This video begins by discussing the rebuilding of the Nauvoo temple a few years ago.
In addition to regular Sunday worship, Latter-days Saints also follow the biblical practice of worshipping in temples. The Church operates 125+ temples throughout the world. By comparison, there are over 17,000 chapels for Sunday worship services. Latter-day Saints believe that temples are the most sacred places on earth — sanctuaries from the distractions and commotion of life. The temple is a place where the most cherished of human relationships are made eternal. Accordingly, it is only fitting and appropriate that the lives of those who worship there reflect that sacredness. Thus, unlike regular Sunday worship, to which all are invited, temple worship is set aside for Latter-day Saints who observe the basic principles of the faith.
Because temples are architecturally beautiful and often prominently placed, many inquire about visiting them and are disappointed to find out that only Church members in good standing may enter. It is noteworthy, however, that the general public is invited to participate in educational tours of the interior of temples after their construction is complete but before they are officially dedicated and opened.
To account for the diversity of religious experience, many religions have traditionally made space in their worship practices for the public and the private, the common and the sacred, the routine and the exceptional, the wide and the narrow. These sanctuaries serve a much different purpose than regular worship services intended for larger audiences. It is no different with the Latter-day Saints.
Former Prophet and President of the Church, Gordon B. Hinckley, said:
"Temples are literally houses of the Lord. They are holy places of worship where individuals make sacred covenants with God. Temples are places of learning. Their principal purpose is to provide ordinances necessary for the children of God to enable them to return to dwell with Him. Temple ordinances lead to the greatest blessings available through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. In addition to being a place where sacred priesthood ordinances are performed, the temple is a place of peace and revelation. It is a place where spiritual guidance can be received for crucial decisions or concerns."

The Prophet Joseph Smith's testimony that God lives, Jesus is the Christ, his ancient gospel has been restored, and that the Church of Jesus Christ is again available to all mankind—the testimony that he first bore to his neighbors in upstate New York—can now be heard around the world in many different languages. The truth of God rolls forth!
On Sunday evening, April 26th, 1834 at a priesthood meeting in Kirtland, Ohio, the Prophet Joseph Smith invited those present to bear testimony of the importance of the latter day work. Several men responded.
"Brethren, I have been very much edified and instructed in your testimonies here tonight," said the Prophet, "but I want to say to you before the Lord that you know no more concerning the destinies of this church and kingdom than a babe upon its mothers lap. You don't comprehend it. It is only a little handful of the Priesthood you see here tonight, but this church will fill North and South America--It will fill the world." Since that 1834 meeting in Kirtland, a series of events evidences the veracity of this prophetic utterance.
In 1901 five out of every six Latter-day Saints lived in the western United States and the church had a membership of 250,000. Today, the membership grows at a rate of a million members ever three and a half years. Approximately 375 buildings are constructed annually to provide meetinghouses for the mushrooming membership. Faithful members enjoy the blessings of temple worship in over 120 temples throughout the earth. There is not a city in the United States or Canada of any consequence which does not have a Latter-day Saint congregation. It is the same in Mexico, Central, and South America as well as New Zealand, Australia, Europe, Africa, and may of the islands of the sea. An estimated 85 million copies of the Book of Mormon are in circulation, and that is just the beginning.
Do you wonder if Joseph Smith was a Prophet of God? Look around you and see prophesy being fulfilled. Faithful Latter-day Saints have looked and now invite family, friends, and near neighbors to embrace the joy of the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
"Persecution has not stopped the progress of truth, but has only added fuel to the flame; it has spread with increasing rapidity. Proud of the cause which they have espoused, and conscious of our innocence, and of the truth of their system, 'midst calumny and reproach, have the Elders of this Church gone forth, and planted the Gospel...it has penetrated our cities, it has spread over our villages, and has caused thousands of our intelligent, noble, and patriotic citizens to obey its divine mandates, and be governed by its sacred truths...there are numbers now joining in every land.
Our missionaries are going forth to different nations, and in Germany, Palestine, New Holland, Australia, the East Indies, and other places, the Standard of Truth has been erected; no unhallowed hand can stop the work from progressing; persecutions may rage, mobs may combine, armies may assemble, calumny may defame, but the truth of God will go forth boldly, nobly, and independent, till it has penetrated every continent, visited every clime, swept every country, and sounded in every ear, till the purposes of God shall be accomplished, and the Great Jehovah shall say the work is done.
Respectfully, Joseph Smith, Jr."
These videos are a part of my testimony that the work of God will roll forth to fill the earth as Joseph Smith prophesied.

On a spring day in 1820 14-year-old Joseph Smith sought solitude in a grove of trees and prayed to know which church was true. God the Father and Jesus Christ, "two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description," appeared and spoke with him.
Wondering which of the many churches to join, Joseph had followed the counsel in the Bible's book of James: "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God." The Lord told Joseph "that all the religious denominations were believing in incorrect doctrines" and that he was to await further instructions from on high. "In a state of calmness and peace indescribable," Joseph left that sacred grove knowing the reality of our Father in Heaven and His resurrected Son, Jesus Christ.
Joseph Smith's first vision stands today as the greatest event in world history since the birth, ministry, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. After centuries of darkness, the Lord opened the heavens to reveal His word and restore His Church through His chosen prophet.
Joseph Smith saw God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, not once, but innumerable times throughout his life. He translated the Book of Mormon, organized the true Church of Jesus Christ upon the earth once more and restored the plain and precious truths which were lost due to the apostasy of men. He lived great and he died great in the eyes of God!
Hail to the Prophet.

The Book of Mormon is a volume of holy scripture comparable to the Bible. It is a record of God's dealings with the ancient inhabitants of the Americas and contains, as does the Bible, the fullness of the everlasting gospel.
The crowning event recorded in the Book of Mormon is the personal ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ among the Nephites soon after his resurrection. It puts forth the doctrines of the gospel outlines the plan of salvation, and tells men what they must do to gain peace in this life and eternal salvation in the life to come.
After the author, Mormon, completed his writings, he delivered the account to his son Moroni, who added a few words of his own and hid up the plates in the hill Cumorah. On September 21, 1823, the same Moroni, then a glorified, resurrected being, appeared to the Prophet Joseph Smith and instructed him relative to the ancient record and its destined translation into the English language.
We invite all people everywhere to read the Book of Mormon, to ponder in their hearts the message it contains, and then to ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if the book is true. Those who pursue this course and ask in faith will gain a testimony of its truth and divinity by the power of the Holy Ghost.
Those who gain this divine witness from the Holy Spirit will also come to know by the same power that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world, that Joseph Smith is his revelator and prophet in these last days, and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord's kingdom once again established on the earth, preparatory to the second coming of the Messiah.
"The Book of Mormon is true, just what it purports to be, and for this testimony I expect to give an account in the day of judgment." (Encyclopedia, 86-87) -Joseph Smith, Jr.
"I did translate the Book of Mormon by the gift and power of God, and it is before the world; and all the powers of earth and hell cannot rob me of it." (Encyclopedia, 92) - Joseph Smith, Jr.
Various ways that The Book of Mormon typifies or alludes to Jesus Christ:
The Book of Mormon's coming forth was declared by an angel named Moroni. Christ's coming forth was declared by an angel named Gabriel.
The Book of Mormon came forth in a time of apostasy to declare truth. Jesus Christ came to an apostate Israel, in the meridian of time to restore truth.
The Book of Mormon was laid away in a stone receptacle. Jesus Christ was laid away in a stone receptacle.
The Book of Mormon was taken from the stone receptacle by a man named Joseph. Jesus Christ was put into a stone receptacle by a man named Joseph.
The Book of Mormon came forth after the stone was moved away. Jesus Christ came forth after the stone was moved away.
An angel was there to oversee the coming forth of The Book of Mormon. An angel was there to oversee the coming forth of Jesus Christ.
The first one to see the plates---Joseph Smith---was forbidden to touch them. The first one to see Jesus Christ---Mary---was forbidden to touch Him.
The Book of Mormon was attested to by twelve witnesses, the three, the eight and Joseph Smith. Jesus Christ had twelve special witnesses.
The Book of Mormon is the word of God. Jesus Christ "in the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God."
The Book of Mormon teaches the fullness; Jesus Christ teaches the fullness.
The Book of Mormon is the keystone; Jesus Christ is the Cornerstone.
And through studying the keystone we can be led to the cornerstone.
The music featured in this video clip is from Sam Cardon's album "By The Hand of Mormon".

Praise to the Man who communed with Jehova!
The last of the mourners passed through the Mansion House at 5:00 p.m. on June 29, 1844. The coffins of Joseph and Hyrum were nailed closed and taken by hearse to the graveyard, though to elude malicious tampering, the bodies of the two Church leaders had been taken secretly to another location.
William W. Phelps, close associate of the Prophet Joseph, gave a stirring funeral sermon for the martyred Church leaders. "They can rest from their labors, and their works shall follow them," he declared. "Mourn not; these sons of God are safe; dry up your tears; confess the hand of the Lord in all things, and comfort each other with the sweet hope that their lives were precious in the sight of all heaven."
Phelps paid final tribute to the prophet of the Restoration, writing the hymn "Praise to the Man": "Hail to the Prophet, ascended to heaven! Traitors and tyrants now fight him in vain. Mingling with Gods, he can plan for his brethren; Death cannot conquer the hero again."
Praise to the man who communed with Jehovah! Jesus annointed that Prophet and Seer. Blessed to open the last dispensation, Kings shall extol him, and nations revere. Hail to the Prophet, ascended to heaven! Traitors and tyrants now fight him in vain. Mingling with Gods, he can plan for his brethren; Death cannot conquer the hero again.
Praise to his mem'ry, he died as a martyr; Honored and blest be his ever great name! Long shall his blood, which was shed by assasins, Plead unto heav'n while the earth lauds his fame.
Great is his glory and endless his priesthood. Ever and ever the keys he will hold. Faithful and true he will enter his kingdom, Crowned in the midst of the prophets of old.
Sacrifice brings forth the blessings of heaven; Earth must atone for the blood of that man. Wake up the world for the conflict of justice. Millions shall know "Brother Joseph" again.

"Not only did the Almighty manifest his acceptance of that house [Kirtland Temple], at its dedication, but an abiding holy heavenly influence was realized; and many extraordinary manifestations of his power were experienced on subsequent occasions. Not only were angels seen within, but a pillar of light was several times seen resting down upon the roof."
Eliza R. Snow: An Immortal: Selected writings of Eliza R. Snow (1957), 59.
On March 27, 1836, Joseph Smith dedicated a temple in Kirtland, Ohio, the first built in the latter days. "I have accepted this house and my name shall be here," the Lord Jesus Christ proclaimed in a vision to Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery just a week later on April 3. Not since ancient times had God commanded his people to build a temple. He promised the Saints that in his holy house they would be "endowed with power" and "taught from on high." Thus the prophecy of Malachi was partially fulfilled that in the last days the Lord would "suddenly come to his temple."
At great personal sacrifice, the early Saints gathered to build temples to God. Today more than 120 temples across the world stand as sentinels of "the power of godliness" and as sanctuaries from the storms of life.
In the temple, the faithful can receive ordinances of salvation for themselves and act as proxies for their families, learn eternal truths, and feel the peace of the Lord.

To Joseph Smith, the Lord said: "The ends of the earth shall inquire after thy name, and fools shall have thee in derision, and hell shall rage against thee; while the pure in heart, and the wise, and the noble, and the virtuous, shall seek counsel, and authority, and blessings constantly from under thy hand."
