Here is my entry to Adam and Joe's 6 Music 'Video Wars' / 'Song Wars' competition
My music video is for Joe's 'Meatball' song............ sorry Adam but as you will see if i did this video with brain's i maybe regarded as a mentalist......
Don't read this before watching the video:
The 'Work' took about an hour; it really really stunk out the house out, took 4 cans of 'Value' meatballs and made my fingers go all crinkly.

Well hello there, here is another little painting for you...........Wolverine from the X-Men, based on Singers (oh remember when X-Men films did not suck balls!!) Singers first X-Men movie, this is Wolverines his thoughts and feelings about Scott Summers aka Cyclops summed up in one gesture............'Up Yours' as us Brits would say, I think the Americans among you would say 'The middle finger'.... I maybe wrong.
Wow I digress okay the painting is by me Stephen Quick, this one took a couple of days, in monochrome acrylic paint on canvas, the painting measures about 30" x 20".

Okay so another painting this time of the beautiful, stunning little rocker Hayley Williams from the Tennessee band Paramore.......... the painting as always is by me Stephen Quick.
Hayley is painted in acrylic paint on canvas, it was quite a fast painting to do, properly only a couple of hours to paint the whole thing, once I got the hair correct the rest feel into place.
Shot on dv cam, edited in Adobe Premiere........... Not time lapse but speeded up I think around 2500%

Dave Grohl (2008) speed painting, well one hell of a painting that took along time........ But it was worth it!
Dave Grohl from Foo Fighters and formally a small relatively unknown band who went by the name of Nirvana.
This painting was commissioned which was great as I could undertake a very time consuming painting that I would not normally undertake, so thank you to that person I wont name check you..........
Well okay the painting is by me Stephen Quick its a full colour pop art painting as said of Dave Grohl, im not sure how long it took but the footage is sped up 5000% so im sure you can figure out how long it took then add on a bit for the touching up and the sketching.
The painting is acrylic (Windsor and Newton) from tube and mixed on canvas 36" x 30", drawn out on the canvas first then painted.
A rarity!! On this one I made a few colour mistakes as you can see Dave's face was way way to pink and the second I made his t-shirt too light!! All fixed but is nice that you can see the mistakes in the video.
As for the video it was shot on mindv cam edited on Adobe Premiere.
The music is of course the Foo Fighters; it's the first three songs from their self-titled first album:
1 -This is a call
2 -I'll stick around
and
3 -Big me (love that song)

In 1930 Grant Wood painted his mast famous painting, based on his sister and i if memory serves me well his dentist........... the painting would be AMERICAN GOTHIC ..... Maybe a satire on the Midwest but he insisted on it being a homage to the down to earth dignity of small town folk in Iowa, so fast forward to 2008 and ive taken these small town folk with there non materialistic values taken away their fork and replaced it with the one of the most famous symbols of the consumer culture we now live in........ Apples I-Pod !!!! What are they listening too?????
Hehehehe anyhow the painting is by Stephen Quick on canvas in acrylic, the painting sketched on the canvas first then painted.

The music is by Alex Sadler and used with permission, so all copyright friendly!!

Hi All, well a little something special today, I give you I-Mona Lisa!!
In true post modernism we have the Mona Lisa the world famous 16th century portrait by Leonardo Da Vinci, and why has she got that smile on her face? Well she just got herself a new I-Pod, the iconic image of our time.
Well the paintings is by me, Stephen Quick its acrylic on canvas about 30 " x 20".
The process for painting the painting, first come up with a very funny concept!!! heheheh undercoat the canvas in the light blue, sketch out the picture, this involves only wanting to painting the shadows of Mona, the most important lines that make up a shape which makes up a object, once this is done I figure out where the I-Pod is going to sit and change her hand to fit it, then paint the whole bloody thing add the I- Pod and then the hardest bit trying to paint a lovely line for the head phones, varnish ..............And we are done!!
The video, is shot on a Mini DV cam direct to a hard drive, edited on Adobe Premiere, footage speed up 3000%, with original music (used with permission) by Alex Sadler.

Hello!! Not a speed painting as I didn't film this one but I felt it needed a closer look.
Hello!! Not a speed painting as I didn't film this one but I felt it needed a closer look.
So here we have a Manga / Hentai girl I know its a bit rude but I hope its okay for the Tube, the film is a closer look at the detail etc of the painting.
So the painting is mixed media, acrylic, spray paint, emulsion, enamel and a bit of ink, on cotton canvas, this painting took a long long time and was painted in many sittings, as the painting was never planned it just happened.............. Well I thought about it was not some "Heroes" moment.

Another new painting for you! This time we have the beautiful Kate Beckinsale as Selena from Len Wiseman's " Underworld: Evolution" the painting depicting the poster/dvd cover with her twin handguns crossed, snow falling and her bright ice blue eyes staring out at the viewer.
