in 2nd century Rome, conjugal contracts between men of about the same age were ridiculed but legally binding. Such marriages were blessed by pagan religions, particularly sects of the Mother Goddess Cybele.

jjones1987, history showed us that Blacks couldn't vote and women couldn't vote but yet they do now. Its called progress, its called being enlightened, Its called being anti-bigoted.

JOSEPH JONES IS A BIGOT!!!

JOSEPH JONES IS A BIGOT!!!

Jjones,
How does banning gay marriage "protect" your right to get married? It wouldn't change anything for you. You're just against it bc you're a bigot and hate others. How does the history of bigotry surrounding gay couples change the fact that denying them rights now is wrong?
jjones1987 | 28 February 2008
Freedom is a god given right. Man made blacks slaves, man subjugated women. But marriage has always been a union between man and wife... not husband and husband or wife and wife. Never before in history were gays allowed to be married. Blacks were free before man enslaved them, women were free before man subjugated them. But marriage has always been a heterosexual institution.
john135246 | 28 February 2008
And you saying that, you prove you are against the United States Constitution. "All men are created equal" It doesnt say only straight men are created equal, it says "ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL."

Bigoted people at one time were against blacks voting

Bigoted people at one time were against women voting

Bigoted people at one time were against blacks and whites marrying

Bigoted pople right now are against gays marrying.
john135246 | 28 February 2008
IF you pressure one man and one woman only to get married you are prejudiced against gays and lesbians. Thank you for proving your a BIGOT!!!
jjones1987 | 28 February 2008
Your logic is flawed o7kane, I never wined about anything. You may not agree with my faith, but the choice of words you use in which to show your disagreement with it is what makes you a bigot or not. Misrepresenting our sacred garments as "magical" is bigoted, there is nothing "magical" about them. You may not like my faith, but as an American I have the right to believe what I want and so do you. You don't believe in Mormonism and I respect that, you should respect the choices of those who do believe.

And John, I support an amendment to preserve marriage between one man and one woman.
john135246 | 27 February 2008
jjones1987, if you believe in the Constitution, you know the whole thing, you would denounce what Mitt Romney is trying to do by having a Marriage Ammendment added to our Constitution. You know the part that where he wants to change "all men are created equal" to "all men except for gays." There is no reason why gays can't get married, churches which are private institutions have a right to say no, but in courts no one should be excluded. No one.

Remember If you say nothing about it, then you prove yourself a bigot.

Jjones,
What do you want me to do? I see that your religion is total crap and it can easily be disproven. I see you admit that you wear magic underwear. I see the history of a cult that became a church, and what should i do? Should i respect your fantasy of a religion or should I point out that it would take a crazy person to believe in it?
And you were whining and crying like a little baby during our discussion on religion earlier and you know it. hahahahahaha
jjones1987 | 26 February 2008
If you think for one second that you have ever hurt my feelings, then you are sorely mistaken! And thanks for pointing out your own bigotry.

See, there is a difference between disagreeing and not believing in a certain religion... and actively making fun of it's tenants and attacking it and its members and calling them brainwashed. You sir have attacked my faith, called me brainwashed, and made fun of our beliefs... those are the trademarks of bigotry. Presenting your differences with my faith in an informative and polite manner is fine. But the moment you start actively attacking and making fun of someone's faith, that is what makes you a bigot.
