Since I couldn't post a comment on the video since I reached my limit, I'm pretty sure that wasn't the first time a lion has killed a Giraffe. It's rare but in some cases when there's barely any food, the lions would go after large prey, and sometimes a male lion can kill a giraffe, and even females can.
