Koh Lipe: the most beautiful island in Thailand
(2 weeks ago)
I totally agree that measures should be taken by the Thai government, but the point I'm making is that aren't we - the tourists bankrolling the development - those most responsible for the mess? Shouldn't it be a case of telling us to stay home rather than telling the Thai government they should be doing this or that? I'm not meaning to be contentious but at the end of the day, it's *our* quest for pristine beaches that ends up largely responsible for ruining them.

Koh Lipe: the most beautiful island in Thailand
(2 weeks ago)
We did mention the negative environmental impact tourism is having in Koh Lipe (as it has already in many, many other Thai islands) in the separate Podcast. Short of telling all holiday makers & travellers around the world to cease travelling to economically 'poorer' regions than their own, how does one go about stopping such 'rape' & 'development'? After all, have you not yourself been a small part of this (as I presume you have visited Koh Lipe)?

We paid 600 baht for a a basic room with cold shower and a double bed (in Mountain Resort). But the balcony was nice and we had a great view over the sea.
Best wishes,
