Israel’s war on Gaza has taken a devastating toll on civilians and fuelled further escalations in violence in Lebanon and across the wider region. A temporary ceasefire is now in place in Gaza. After 15 months of bombing, death and destruction, people in Gaza have a reprieve from violence. Hostages from Israel and Palestinian detainees have started to be released. Please donate today to support people who have lost everything to this war: https://www.oxfam.org.uk/oxfam-in-action/current-emergencies/gaza-crisis-appeal/ Your donation will help provide emergency food, clean water and hygiene kits, and repair water and wastewater networks in Gaza. And your support will help people forced to flee their homes due to the violence in Lebanon.
Conflict in the Middle East is devastating lives. Oxfam along with other members of the Disaster Emergencies Committee (DEC) are responding in the region providing life-saving supplies, but more funds are urgently needed to meet the enormous needs. You can donate here: (add link when available)
GAZA ISRAEL CONFLICT: CALL FOR A CEASEFIRE NOW We will not be bystanders. Immediate ceasefire now. Nothing can justify violence towards any civilians. Anyone held captive must be released. End the blockade that is preventing civilians in Gaza from accessing food, fuel and water. Call for a path to real and lasting peace for Palestinian and Israeli people. https://www.oxfam.org.uk/get-involved/campaign-with-oxfam/gaza-israel-crisis-sign-petition-call-for-ceasefire-now/ The terrifying escalation of violence in Gaza and Israel is leaving people in Gaza in urgent need of humanitarian support. Humanitarian aid must be allowed to flow, in safety, to those people most in need. All humanitarian operations are now effectively frozen. It is impossible for agencies like Oxfam to restart them in the face of bombs, shells, rockets and bullets. Civilians have already borne the brunt of the violence and now those in Gaza face a double blow as the violence escalates and they are cut off from vital humanitarian aid and all public services. Please donate to help our teams respond in Gaza as soon as it is safe https://www.oxfam.org.uk/oxfam-in-action/current-emergencies/gaza-crisis-appeal/
A more equal world is possible. One where any of us vulnerable to the climate crisis have the resources to survive extreme weather, and the opportunity to build sustainable futures for generations to come. To get there, first the biggest fossil fuel polluters – who have taken huge profits – must now be properly taxed to contribute to the loss and damage fund which is being set up right now. Sign the petition: https://www.oxfam.org.uk/get-involved/campaign-with-oxfam/tax-the-biggest-polluters-now/
Let’s finish the work we started. As an Oxfam supporter, you believe a fairer world is worth fighting for. A gift in your Will could help people who share your values in the future to keep fighting for that world. For as long as they need to. We’ve laid the groundwork together. We’ve shown the world what can be achieved. So leave a gift in your Will to Oxfam – and give the next generation the chance to finish the work we started. https://www.oxfam.org.uk/giftsinwills
Kenya, Ethiopia and Somalia are facing one of the worst droughts in history. South Sudan has suffered a fifth year of severe flooding. It's a major emergency, and widespread food shortages are being made worse by climate extremes, Covid-19, and conflict. We're working with our partners across the Horn of Africa to support people. But we need your help to do more.
Oxfam, together with local partner organisations, need your support to reach people affected by the earthquakes in Türkiye (Turkey) and Syria. This is an urgent appeal for assistance. https://www.oxfam.org.uk/oxfam-in-action/current-emergencies/turkey-and-syria-earthquake-appeal/
The war Ukraine shows no sign of stopping. Nearly 18 million people are still in need of assistance in the country. That includes 6 million internally displaced persons. The people in Ukraine are facing unimaginable suffering. Regular waves of attacks on energy infrastructure continue to cause destruction. There are millions with no electricity, unreliable water supply and heating systems. In winter temperatures have fallen below zero in most parts of the country. In addition millions of Ukrainians who fled the war to neighbouring countries also need assistance.
Right now, climate change is destroying homes and wrecking lives as extreme weather is becoming more frequent and more intense. And it’s hitting the world’s poorest communities the hardest This is an injustice that can and must be stopped. There is still hope. It’s not too late – but we need to drastically reduce carbon emissions by 2030 to limit the impact of this crisis. It’s challenging but we can do it if we take urgent action now. We have the power to save our planet and its people if we act together – both by making changes in our own lives, and pushing governments and corporations for solutions that enable us all to urgently tackle the climate emergency head-on.
