My name is Dorte and I live and work in Denmark. I'm a selvtaught pastel painter, and I love using soft pastels. Ever sins my first try with pastels I've been hooked on them. My favorite paper is velour and art spectrum.

I have exhibited my work 7 times so far, and had the pleasure of illustrating a book cover.

I started with 12 Derwent pastel pencils and some velour paper, back when I first tried pastels out. I didn't want to bye to many, because they are very expensive. So When I found out that I really loved to use them, I bought 36 and had them for half a year. Then I bought some Pitt, and they are also very good. But I would recommend the Derwents for starts. :-)
Pastels are made of pure pigment, with a simple binder that makes it the "purest" of art materials. How as color pencils are mixed with a lot of things to make them the way they are. Pastels are softer, and therefor brake much more easily than the color pencils. I love to work with pastels but I can't stand color pencils. :-) I personally think that pastels are better, and much purer in their colors.
