"Don't Stop Believing" is a song by the American rock band Journey originally written about Steve Perry's high school flame, Stephanie Diperna. The song debuted on their 1981 album Escape. It is today considered the band's signature song. The song is well known for its lyrics and its distinctive detuned piano introduction, described by All Music Guide as "one of the best opening keyboard riffs in rock." It is often incorrectly referred to by the title "Small Town Girl", "Midnight Train", or "Streetlight People", due to the song's lyrics. Many compilation albums carrying the track (Including some budget Journey Best Of releases) list the track as Don't Stop Believin' although the original title includes the "g" ____________________________________ Lyrics: Just a small town girl, livin in a lonely world She took the midnight train goin anywhere Just a city boy, born and raised in south detroit He took the midnight train goin anywhere
A singer in a smokey room A smell of wine and cheap perfume For a smile they can share the night It goes on and on and on and on
Strangers waiting, up and down the boulevard Their shadows searching in the night Streetlight people, living just to find emotion Hiding, somewhere in the night
Working hard to get my fill, Everybody wants a thrill Payin anything to roll the dice, Just one more time Some will win, some will lose Some were born to sing the blues Oh, the movie never ends It goes on and on and on and on
(chorus)
Dont stop believin Hold on to the feelin Streetlight people ________________________________
Contemporary acclaim: The song is a popular anthem for sports franchises, and particularly the 2005 World Series baseball champion Chicago White Sox. The song was popular with fans and players alike when first played during the 2005 season and was considered the anthem of the Sox' playoff run. The song became such a symbol for the Sox that former Journey lead singer Steve Perry, a lifelong San Francisco Giants fan, was invited to travel with the team during the World Series. After the victory, he was seen in the clubhouse celebrating and singing this song with several players. On October 28, 2005, Steve Perry led the team and the crowd in an a cappella rendition of the song, on the podium at the World Series Championship celebration in Chicago.
When Don't Stop Believing appeared on MTV's Laguna Beach and Fox's Family Guy in the same week, it jumped to #2 on the top 10 most sold songs on iTunes. It briefly held the #1 spot on iTunes during June of 2007 after being used in the series finale of The Sopranos. It was #21 on Billboard's Hot Digital Songs for that week.
The opening stanza refers to "Just a city boy/Born and raised in South Detroit". As Detroiters know, there really is no such place; Detroit has an East Side and a West Side, but north and south are not usually referred to. "South Detroit" could refer to "Mexican Town" or "Downriver." Mexicantown, however, is usually considered part of "Southwest Detroit" and Downriver is farther southwest than that, so the closest place to a geographic "South Detroit" actually Windsor, Canada.

ABOUT GTA IV: Peter Moore announces Grand Theft Auto IV. In Grand Theft Auto 4 you take on the role of Niko Bellic, an immigrant from Eastern Europe with an ominous past. Persuaded by his cousin's promises of a fresh start and a better life, Niko relocates to Liberty City, USA -- the worst place in America. After making the move to Liberty, however, Niko quickly realizes that his hopes of "living the American Dream" may never come to pass... and that things here may not be so different after all.
Although Liberty City may not differ greatly from Niko's homeland, being different and standing out is definitely a major theme with Grand Theft Auto IV. While GTA: Vice City and GTA: San Andreas were considered to be part of the GTA III trilogy (same graphics engine, similar characters, similar mission style, etc.), Grand Theft Auto IV is considered a fresh start for the GTA series, focusing more heavily on realism and storytelling than in previous titles. This is why it's been dubbed GTA4 and not GTA6 (as many had originally anticipated), even though it's the sixth major title in the series.
GTA IV follows the release of the hugely successful GTA: San Andreas (which was released for PlayStation 2 in 2004, and then later for PC and Xbox during 2005) and also marks the 10th anniversary of the Grand Theft Auto franchise. With Grand Theft Auto 4 being the milestone that it is, Rockstar Games has been working overtime on perfecting the game. According to Janco Partners analyst Mike Hickey -- a financial consultant for Take2 Interactive -- approximately 150 developers are currently working on GTA 4.
