I apologize for not responding to your earlier post (of May 2nd) sooner. I rarely check my youtube page.
That said, I must tell you that nothing Dawkins has ever written, nor any other book, serves as a "bible" to myself or any other atheist I know. In fact, I purposely do not read Dawkins's works that venture out of his realm of expertise--biology--as I do not believe he should sully his reputation as an excellent scientist by engaging in the religion debate. Moreover, I take nothing on faith. I believe evolution, I don't "believe in" it, and my belief stems from seeing overwhelming evidence presented in multiple sources which I can--and in most cases have--independently corroborated. The reason I recommended this book to you is not because it is an article of atheist faith. It is because the book quite succinctly summarizes the evidence for the modern theory of evolution, and provides a wonderful summary of abiogenesis. |
