I don't understand this comment.

This can be very scary for a child and requires a calming influence for the particular sense(s) that is the cause of undesirable behavior to help him function.

His difficulty is understanding the perspective of other people and what's going on in their mind. Other people don't understand the thoughts he processes in the same manner that he does and this makes it difficult for him to relate to other people. Human subtleties are usually lost with him which would often be picked up by an aspie. An aspie like my youngest will pick up many of the details and these can sometimes overload the sensory (i.e. smell/taste/touch/sight/sound).

I'll add chemer2012 to my list of friends...I'm always interested in knowing how the community is doing. HFA (high functioning autism) is the common term used for autistics that are verbal. Derby had a conversation with a duck at the beach the other day. He was sad...he said "I lost my turtle, the frog died, and the fish are just making it worse." Of course, the duck didn't understand - something an aspergers kid would usually know.
