I learn all music by ear so I have no sheet music or tabs to offer. Youtube has served as an outlet for me and hopefully entertainment for you. If I inspire just one of you to learn a musical instrument; then I've done my job.

Do yourselves a favor and seek out "doctorcastille" on youtube; he has done wonders with some of my performances.
Used to do local venues years ago. Now, music is a hobby while I work and go to school. My music background is 10 years of classical piano; guitar is self-taught.

The time has come where I need to leave music behind for a while to pursue my career goals (graduate school). If all goes well, i hope to return at the end of '09. By then, we'll have a new president; TV will be all digital and we'll all be a year older. Who knows if Youtube will even be here then? Thanks very much for taking the time out to listen. I appreciate all the comments - both good and bad - and apologize for not being able to respond to most of you. When I started this as a lark a couple years ago, I thought I would only be doing a few videos here and there. I had no idea it would escalate to where it is now and am truly humbled by the number of subscribers who find my performances half-way listenable. As to the question of original compositions - they exist - but i feel my songwriting skills are just too derivative of the vast amount of music i have been exposed to throughout my life. True artists are poets who put their words into music - a poet i'm definitely not. Therefore, I feel better doing covers of artists that inspire me. I do not and never have had the aim of getting a recording contract; i just like playing music as a hobby and am flattered some of you out there actually enjoy it. Signing off (for now),

Rick

I have see almost everyone of your videos they are all first rate. Your Dan Fogelburg, Billy Joel, and Elton John covers are my favorite. I must have listened to them at least thrity times. The talent to play guitar and piano with such ease blows my mind. Your presence on youtube will be missed. Good luck w/grade school.

YouTube quality will be taking a big hit in the gut because of your absence.
Nevertheless, the pursuit of higher education is the way to go!
Would that we all would take a page out of your book and set aside whatever distractions impede us from the pursuit of our loftier nobler achievements, particularly those that smarten us and enable us to improve the world in which we live. Till then,

Love your covers, for how good you are...music shouldn't be just a hobby, I have no doubt you could get somewhere if you wanted...good luck with your studying anyhow, although it seems a long time away - this time next year, I look forward to seeing more videos from you!

I will miss your work. I have been a fan for some time, I play music for a living, and you have taught me many songs for my own performances. i wish you well in your education. I will be waiting, and if you get a break post some more songs, I won't be upset if you break your hiatus.

Adios,
Butch the Souldonor

ya know a lot of people write originals due to their limited playing or singing ability, but you've shown complete competency in both. I still don't quite understand why you don't want to go that route. I know you have passion about something, and I'm pretty sure you could covert it into a song... well, maybe next year. As a Beatles fanatic, I love everything in your huge collection of Beatles remakes, which is a statement I can rarely make. Great farewell song - Take care... see you in the future Rick.
