The Companion
In this video, Acharya addresses the folks who are ANTI-ZEITGEIST Part 1.
The Companion Guide to ZEITGEIST, Part 1 is a 49-page ebook containing a scientific investigation of some of the facts from Part 1 of the ZEITGEIST movie, dealing with the comparisons of ancient religions and Christianity.
In this instantly downloadable and printable PDF file are answers to the following questions:
Who are the Egyptian gods Horus and Set? Why does the battle between Horus and Set sound like that of Jesus and Satan? Was the baby Horus really born on December 25th, just like Jesus is traditionally supposed to have been? This ebook contains 11 pages of research on this important subject. Was Horus's mother truly a virgin called Isis-Mery? A 10-page discussion of the virginal status of Horus's mother, including citations of ancient texts in their original languages, with translations. While this book is scholarly, citing data from the earliest sources with over 200 footnotes, it is also easily readable for those who are interested in this subject. A link to an extensive bibliography is also provided.
Note: This short ebook does not contain material on the other aspects of the Horus myth discussed in ZEITGEIST--these subjects will be addressed in Acharya's forthcoming book 'Christ in Egypt: The Horus-Jesus Connection'. http://www.StellarHousePublishing.com/zeitgeist.html

The study of solar mythology (astrotheology) indicates that saviour myths, including that
The study of solar mythology (astrotheology) indicates that saviour myths, including that of Jesus Christ, had their origin in the heavens. Ancient people looked up at the heavens, noted patterns and regular movements of the sun, moon and stars.
The height of the sun told them the time of day - the phases of the moon told them the time of the month - the position of the constellations in the night sky told them the time of the year - useful information if you want to know when to plant, when to harvest, when to hunt, when to feast, when to celebrate the re-birth of the sun in winter. They made up fables as a way of passing on their knowledge to future generations.
After thousands of years, these fables lost their original meanings and instead came to be believed as true accounts of the lives of past and present supernatural beings/gods. This was encouraged by the growing priesthood. More time passed and these stories began to be incorporated into their religious beliefs - sun gods, moon goddesses etc. Stories circulated about some of these 'sun gods' making themselves visible on earth - these were the suns/sons of gods. The rest I leave to your imagination...

NOTE: Slide reading Philippians 3:30 should read Philippians 3:20
NOTE: John the Baptist slide text is misleading. There is an explanation of what happened to John further on in the Book of Mark, although this does not affect our story. Thanks to those who pointed this out.

Excerpt from: "Hector Avalos: How Archaeology Killed Biblical History" recorded 10/23/2007
Excerpt from: "Hector Avalos: How Archaeology Killed Biblical History" recorded 10/23/2007. Hector Avalos (Ph.D. 1991, Harvard University, 1991, M.T.S. 1985, Harvard Divinity School, B.A. in Anthropology, 1982 University of Arizona) is professor of religious studies at Iowa State University and the author or editor of six books on Biblical studies and religion, including his recently published work, The End of Biblical Studies.
"Hector Avalos calls for an end to biblical studies as we know them. He outlines two main arguments for this surprising conclusion.
First, academic biblical scholarship has clearly succeeded in showing that the ancient civilization that produced the Bible held beliefs about the origin, nature, and purpose of the world and humanity that are fundamentally opposed to the views of modern society. The Bible is thus largely irrelevant to the needs and concerns of contemporary human beings.
Second, Avalos criticizes his colleagues for applying a variety of flawed and specious techniques aimed at maintaining the illusion that the Bible is still relevant in today's world. In effect, he accuses his profession of being more concerned about its self-preservation than about giving an honest account of its own findings to the general public and faith communities."
