A wall drawing from Island Farm (former German PoW Camp) in Bridgend, returns home this year on the 80th Anniversary of VE Day. Mr Garnet Edwards tells us the artwork's story during an interview with me at his home in Merthyr Mawr on June 7th, 2022. He explains in his own words what he believes, i.e. how the drawing relates to the VE Day in 1945, 80 years ago from that historic day for Britain, Europe and the world! The drawing has been on display and available for viewing in Hut 9 at Island Farm since April 5, 2025. It is located inside one of the two rooms where the rest of the German PoW painted wall artwork is. As we know these Island Farm drawings/ artwork were cut out from the huts' walls prior to their demolition. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Garnet Edwards for his forward thinking in the 1960s to rescue such a historic drawing from one of the Island Farm huts. Worth the waiting all those years, for this year's special 80th Anniversary of VE Day! Enjoy
