We're driving regional growth through defence spending. Our increased spending in the years ahead will build on the 26,000+ skilled jobs already supported by UK Government defence investments in Scotland. At Royal Air Force (RAF) Lossiemouth, we’re strengthening our defences, with three new E-7 Wedgetail aircraft, bringing more high-tech jobs to the base and the wider region. The Chancellor visited the base last week where she met Boeing and Royal Air Force personnel who will work side-by-side on the project.

For too long, Cornwall has been overlooked, and local families and businesses have felt the impact. That changes today, with a £28 million investment from the National Wealth Fund - backed by government - to help reopen the South Crofty tin mine. This will help revive Cornwall’s proud tin mining heritage through our Plan for Change and could create up to 1,300 jobs in the community.

This government came in with a mission to boost economic growth across the UK. That’s why today we’re celebrating a £66m investment in transport infrastructure in Scotland which will help workers to access jobs in high growth sectors such as aviation and engineering. At Rolls Royce's Inchinnan site in Renfrewshire, the Chancellor met apprentices working on engines that power flights across the globe. Through investing in our nations and regions, we can help to boost opportunities and high-paying jobs
